My Research
2023 / DEC
University of Houston
I performed this research study as a Senior in the Interpretation and Translation (ASLI at the time) Program at the University of Houston in late 2023. I conducted a study on my research question:
"Does the Use of Mouth Morphemes (or Lack thereof) in American Sign Language Interpreting by L2 Hearing Interpreters Affect the Accuracy of the Interpretation?"
by researching current literature on the subject of mouth morphemes and their relationship with interpretation in comparison with videos of my own interpreting skill. The result of this study was evaluating and further understanding a skill I had made it a goal to improve throughout my time in the program based on feedback from professors, peers, and those in the Deaf community.
